Travel Diary: Autumn days in Edinburgh

Edinburgh has been on my travel-list for so long! So this autumn we finally booked our flights and I am so glad that we did - as it's become one of my favorite cities! It was such an amazing few days, cold, a bit of rain and even the sun came out! We had a very cute Airbnb in the Grassmarket area, located between two bookshops. From our living room we could see the Edinburgh castle, which was perfect!

Right after arriving at the airport, we took a bus that brought us to the city. Everything was easy and uncomplicated. We directly found a cute pizza restaurant called "Woodland" where we had finally lunch after 9 hours. We enjoyed yummy elderflower and raspberry lemonade, olives, pizza and veggie pasta.

I totally fell in love with this Bowie picture

We started our mornings slow, enjoying earl grey tea and toast with hummus and cucumbers.

On our first real day we went (after breakfast) to the National Museum of Scotland. It was not that far away from our Airbnb place so we could easily walk there. We passed Grassmarket and the Greyfriars graveyard, Greyfriars Bobby and we were there. The entry was free and we spent the whole morning looking at animals, minerals and other interesting things.

The Grassmarket was not far away from our home, there was a vegan café called Pumpkin Brown Café, where we enjoyed pumpkin spice latte and hot cocoa.

I also went to Armstrongs Vintage shop at the Grassmarket. They have a huge collection of all vintage things you can imagine.

We walked down to Dean Village which is really worth seeing. The houses are cute and you can walk by the riverside of the water of Leith.

We visited the Waterstones Booksellers shop quite a lot. They have an amazing selection of books, I especially fell in love with the poetry and crime (Sherlock Holmes, victorian crime stories) sections. I of course bought books here: Ariel by Sylvia Plath, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and The Dun Cow Rib - A Very Natural Childhood by John Lister-Kaye.
And we also visited the Waterstones Café upstairs. First time it was super full and we couldn't get one of the popular tables at the window (from where you have a fantastic castle view). The following day we came early and we snatched a window table! The pumpkin spice latte was super delicious!

Coffee and cake time at The Elephant house. This café is also the birthplace of Harry Potter. This place seemed a bit over hyped, coffee and cake were delicious though and they sell nice postcards.

Armchair books. This bookshop was just right next to our Airbnb apartment. A cute little shop full of books, also antique ones. I didn't buy anything here.

Autumn Days

Hello everybody,
finally it's autumn time again. It is quite warm for this season this year, but anyways I am already getting cosy at home. I got myself some pumpkin spice scented candles and little deco pumpkins for the apartment.
Lately I used to spent my saturday afternoons in the bookshop. I just love to stroll around, have a look at notebooks, magazines and new books to discover. I fell in love with so many and already bought a bunch:
Supernatural Sherlocks - Nick Rennison
The Strings of Murder - Oscar De Muriel
Palast der Finsternis - Stefan Bachmann
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Spinner - Benedict Wells
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - J. K. Rowling
Can't wait to read them this fall...
I also sat in the bookshop café quite a lot, sipped on milky coffee or pumpkin spice latte, enjoyed some salted caramel cheesecake and watched the leaves fall outside.
